Safety protocols at Shizen Hontai

Creating a safe environment is a top priority at Shizen Hontai. Every child, youth member, and adult must feel trusted and safe. Not just during judo or jiujitsu lessons, but at all times. The club and the club board do everything they can to guarantee that safety.

Well-trained teachers

Only JBN-trained teachers are active on the mat at Shizen Hontai. We encourage our youth members to become dojo assistants (level 1), after which they can progress to training as a judo or jiujitsu leader (level 2), teacher A (level 3), teacher B (level 4), or one of the related courses to become a judo teacher in healthcare or a ZekerBewegen instructor.

High-quality equipment

Judo and jiujitsu lessons take place at two locations. The practice room (dojo) at the Kempen Campus is a permanent dojo where the mats are always laid out. At De Berkt, the sports hall is transformed weekly into a dojo by laying down the judo mats.

Shizen Hontai believes it is important that the mats are and remain of high quality. That is why they are replaced approximately every ten to fifteen years. Factors such as the intensity of use and the conditions in which they are stored influence the lifespan of the mats.

Training materials such as punching pads, boxing bags, or other equipment are also regularly inspected to ensure they still meet the required quality standards.

Certificate of Conduct (VOG)

Every employee and volunteer at Shizen Hontai must be of irreproachable character. They demonstrate this by providing a Certificate of Conduct (VOG) at the start of their employment or volunteer work. This ensures you can rest assured that your child is in safe hands at Shizen Hontai.

The VOG – which you request from the municipality – shows that ‘someone’s past behavior forms no objection to fulfilling a specific task or function in society.’ (Source: Ministry of Justice and Security).

If you want a VOG that can be used for our club, please send an email to vincent@shizenhontai.nl

Confidential counselor

Are you dealing with undesirable behavior within our club? Then contact the Shizen Hontai confidential counselor. You can tell her your personal story in complete confidentiality.

Sexual harassment and/or bullying

In addition to the measures mentioned above, Shizen Hontai also has established protocols to prevent and/or address bullying and sexual harassment.

Shizen Hontai Privacy Policy

Shizen Hontai handles its members’ data with care. Since May 2018, the same privacy legislation has applied throughout the European Union. In the Netherlands, this is laid down in the Algemene verordening gegevensbescherming (AVG) or the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

This means, among other things, that every association that keeps and stores member data must inform its members. This includes Shizen Hontai. In our privacy statement you can read which data the club keeps and what this data might be used for.

If you have any questions about this, please contact our secretary. Would you like to view one of the protocols? They can be found here.
